Since the dawn of humanity, India has been traversed by waves of settlers of diverse origins. Each group has left its unique imprint on the country’s heritage, especially its cooking.
Our story begins in Punjab, a state in Northern India that lays at the foothills of the Himalayas. More than 30 years ago a young teenager, named Inderjit Singh, and his friends used to spend their free time creating the most delicious recipes they could imagine. Using a medley of their imaginations and numerous seasonings made from traditional ingredients, including exotic herbs and spices, they created an exceptional array of delicacies that you can now enjoy at Sitar Restaurant of New Haven.
Since 2005, proud owner and chef of Sitar Restaurant, Inderjit, and his staff strive to make every experience at Sitar as satisfying as possible. With a menu boasting of authentic Northern Indian dishes, we at Sitar promise that we can delight the taste buds of novices and Indian cuisine connoisseurs alike.
We use a combination of modern and ancient cooking techniques. We are especially proud of our tandoor, a traditional Indian clay oven that gives many of our selections that savory smoky flavor. Every dish is always prepared to ensure freshness and perfect quality. We are always happy to answer any questions, as well as accommodate any number of preferences you might have. Now please sit back, relax and enjoy the most pleasurable culinary experience at Sitar Restaurant.
